Weekly “Winners & Losers” Column and “Video Interview” Features Coming Are Set To Debut!
This week we will be introducing weekly video interviews, and a weekly “Winners & Losers in California Politics” feature!
There is always so much to talk about regarding California politics — just trying to take it all in is like drinking water from the proverbial fire hose. I almost hate using some of my “space” for an internal-facing update, but as my readers you are officially extended family and should know what you can expect!
Awesome Growth In Subscribers — And A Key Milestone!
I mentioned it yesterday, but we are now regularly exceeding over 100,000 unique reads/visits in a 30 day period (I get the look-back stats in real time.) Which is pretty darned cool. Substack peeps say that is really strong, and especially in such a short period of time! We also have taken this thing from a few dozen subscribers three months ago to literally thousands now (not counting the great many who check out our posts without signing up — if that’s you, please sign up - the button is right below this section!). It tells me that when you offer a quality product, consistently, on a topic of interest, you pick up viewers and subscribers!
I have had a couple of new features for this Substack Project that I have been waiting to roll out — but buoyed by the great news on readership, I have decided to bring them both online at once. And pretty much right away!
Jon’s Weekly Video Interview
Each week, I will be doing a video interview with someone that matters in California politics. It could be an elected official, a candidate, a seasoned consultant or operative, a celebrity, someone in the media. The goal is bring this guest directly to you. These will not be live, but they will all have been recorded within a day or so of going live. There is a feature for going live with interviews and chats — I would have to get more comfortable with this video stuff before doing that — for both of ours sake!
Look for the first interview later this week! And if there are people out there that you think I should be talking to, by all means make a suggestion by sending me a message. using the button below.
Winners and Losers Column, Starting This Friday
Given that I like to call balls and strikes as I see them, I am going to be doing a new weekly column, on Fridays, looking back at the week, and I will be awarding “winners and losers” based on some very subjective criteria - my personal opinion. The scope is California politics, but that could be statewide, or locally in a county or city. We’ll see how it plays out. Your feedback is always welcome, both on format (that would be helpful input now), but on an ongoing basis, you should feel free to “nominate” winners or losers, knowing that I will always keep confidential those making suggestions. Make sure you say why you are making the suggestion. Use this button to send me a note, or you can e-mail me at jon@sodoesitmatter.com!
So A Recap Of Our Content Schedule
On weekdays, there will typically be two regular updates, that you can count on receiving, early morning and early afternoon. Two of the morning updates will our weekly features — the California Patriot Profile where we highlight someone advancing the cause of liberty here in the Golden State — and now the Winners and Losers column. We will continue to have occasional “issue tool kit boxes” and “hot takes” themed columns, along with breaking news, analysis and commentary. And there will be the weekly “Interview with Jon” features - but not sure if they will have a regular day and time. Finally, Saturdays we will have the “What Is Jon Reading” update — which has been one of the most popular features — and on Sundays the “ICYMI” recap (plus fun extras) for those with FOMO.
You Can Help Out - Pretty Easily!
There are three things you could do to help me out, as a way to show you appreciate the content I am producing. The first is to hit like (the heart button) below, the second would be to subscribe to my content (if you haven’t yet), and most importantly, our readership has been growing like gangbusters not because of any structured advertising campaign, but because of reader recommendations. Mostly from your sharing this stuff — on social media, or with friends or others that you think would be interested in what I am doing here.
Thank you!
Let me close by saying THANK YOU! When I start doing this in very lake April I never thought it would catch on like it has. And that’s all because of reader like you! We will keep this going, and grow it!!
Congrats on all your success! Your substack is a go-to for California news. I love what you're doing.
