A City Government Completely Upside-Down
Los Angeles has rising crime concerns, reckless driving, public disorder, and collapsing confidence in basic governance. So naturally, the City Council decided to target… traffic stops.
Earlier this week, LA councilmembers voted 14-0 to advance restrictions on police traffic enforcement rooted in the belief that routine policing itself is somehow the danger. Not the drunk driver. Not the armed criminal. Not the guy blowing through intersections at 90 miles per hour. The cops.
And what makes this story so important is not just the proposal itself. It is the worldview behind it. The people driving this effort appear to genuinely believe armed police officers should play less of a role in traffic enforcement, even in one of America’s largest and most chaotic cities.
In my full California Post column, I break down the arguments being made at City Hall, the unanswered questions nobody seems willing to confront, the role of anti-police ideology in shaping policy, and why this vote may only be the beginning.
This is one of those stories where the details somehow get worse the deeper you look.
