ICYMI - Greatest Hits From Last Week That Was
A look back at some of my favorite posts from last week. Enjoy your Sunday, mine is being spent flying from Athens, via Atlanta, to Orange County (loooong day).
This week we passed a milestone — I have now written over a hundred different posts for this Substack. Be sure to check out anything you may have missed. And please pass along “So, Does It Matter?” with others! Here is the link for sharing…
If you haven’t caught up on three major Supreme Court victories for the Trump Administration from the end of the SCOTUS session last week, Megyn Kelly does it pretty well in around seven minutes… (I hit on one of these decisions in #1 below)…
Okay, not onto the week that was on So, Does It Matter?
It has been a busy week for the United States Supreme Court as they finished up their term yesterday. I may write on a few other pieces on some of the other big decisions, but this past week I wrote on two of them…
The Supreme Court overturned a lower court injunction that was preventing the Trump Administration from deporting illegal immigrants to third party countries. What does it mean for the country? For California
The Supreme Court, on Friday, took some decisive action to reign in this phenomenon of nationwide (or universal) injunctions being handed down by local federal judges from all around the country. Included in the majority decision, written by Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett, was a pretty hard smackdown of a fellow Justice… It’s all in my analysis..
Every week we write up a California Conservative Profile on someone here in the Golden State that is making a difference for the cause. For this week’s profile we look at actor James Woods. Pushing back on the progressive orthodoxy of Hollywood, Woods has amassed a following of millions on X, where he tells the truth, very directly. Oh yes, he’s a damned good poker player, too!
This week the Democrats in the State Senate, and the Democrats in the State Assembly “negotiated” with each other and with the Democrat in the Governor’s office — which predictably has resulted in a Democrat “wish list” of overspending in the newest State Budget. I do some analysis in this story below. (And see a little more on this at the bottom of this post
It looks like Gavin Newsom will have to share some of the Democrat limelight with a new player. This last week New York Democrats voted to make Zohran Mamdani, a 33-year-old state legislator, their nominee for Mayor. If you look at the partisan makeup of the Big Apple, it’s safe to say he is the front runner to win the runoff in November. Mamdani is a self-described socialist. And you should see some of his beliefs and positions. Which are conveniently in my analysis…
This ICYMI highlights less than half of what ran on my Substack this week alone. If you have total FOMO you can go to the main page, and from there pick out whatever you want to read, going all of the way back to our launch!

Of course, this massive State Budget ONLY has ESSENTIAL spending. Just ask conservative freshman Assemblymember David Tangipa. Look what he found in there (you probably had to look hard, as there is so much waste in the budget)…
There are so many more examples.
We’ll close with my friend State Senator Tony Strickland’s quick take on the Democratic Budget that they passed along to Newsom… Watch it here.
Have a great Sunday!
