It’s the end of the third full week of So Does It Matter? It’s been a lot of fun providing insights and analysis of (mostly) California politics. Since last weekend, I have penned almost a dozen items. The top six are linked below, in case you missed them. I would encourage you to share Does It Matter? with other people you think would enjoy it!

Guess who loves Bay Area public transit? None other than loony lefty former U.S. Rep. Katie Porter, the self-announced protege of Senator Elizabeth Warren. She posted on X her exuberance of what a great deal it is to take BART — so inexpensive. Well this ersatz Governor of California should do a little more research. That was a VERY expensive public train ride as transit in the Bay Area is in the middle of a fiscal emergency due to massive overspending, and fewer rides (not that they charge the riders very much, obviously. I wrote about the failure that is Bay Area Public Transit a couple of weeks ago.
Okay, not onto the week that was…

In Los Angeles this week, we saw the raw power of the SEIU, the largest union representing non-public safety employees, in full display. Don’t lay off our members, cut down on hiring cops…
We are having a property insurance crisis in California. Policies are being cancelled. Rates are skyrocketing. And, of course, the root problem lies with California state government. How do we solve this situation?
California’s Democrats in the State Capitol are dangerous — literally. Governor Newsom has closed prisons, and let out massive numbers of inmates, a huge chunk of whom have gone on to commit more felonies (including murder and rape!). Now he plans to close another prison, while he turns San Quentin prison into a “rehabilitation facility” complete with — well you can see the sign below.
Finally, what would some of our nation’s founding father have to say about today’s national lawfare? Specifically, this growing phenomenon where local federal judges are issuing “national injunctions” stopping nationwide policies, is pretty outrageous. I dig in with some depth here, so please take a read!

Let’s conclude with a very happy birthday greeting to actor Ian McKellan, who has played so many great roles — but to be he will always be Gandalf the wizard in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit Trilogies. So let’s end with a great quite from Gandalf…
